Description
Gusset Pouch is a widely applicable pouch that is incorporated with a special material, known as “gusset”, providing the pouch with an increased volume and strengthened structure. It is available in two different versions, the Side Gusset Pouch – where gusset is added to the side of the pouch, and Bottom Gusset Pouch – where gusset is added to the bottom of the pouch.
Difference between Side & Bottom Pouch
Side Gusset is typically used to pack products such as coffee, tea and snacks as the added gusset increases the volume, hence maximises storage capacity. This also allows the pouch to be displayed both vertically and horizontally, making it extremely flexible for an aesthetical display of products.
Bottom Gusset, on the other hand, is one of the most common pouches in the industry. It can be further classified into three different types, Round Bottom, K-Seal and Plow Bottom, to suit different packaging applications. The Round Bottom is used to pack products that weigh less than 500 grams, whereas the K-Seal and Plow Bottom is used to pack products that weigh above 500 grams. The main difference between the K-Seal and Plow Bottom is that the Plow Bottom is typically used to pack compact products such as flour and sugar.
Although both pouches serve different needs and applications, they are both capable of providing an ideal packaging solution for brands that require an attractive packaging format to suit their products.
