Made from safe, non-toxic materials, our Oxygen Absorber, O Sorb, offers an effective solution to extend the shelf life of food products, ensuring freshness and maintaining quality. Commonly referred to as an Oxygen Scavenger, it is ideal for use in a variety of food packaging, including snacks and pastries.

O Sorb works by reducing the oxygen levels within the packaging to 0.1% or less, creating an environment where aerobic pathogens and spoilage organisms, like fungi, cannot thrive. This helps preserve the colour and taste of food and prevents the rancidity of oils, significantly extending the product’s shelf life without the need for preservatives.

By inhibiting the growth of aerobic bacteria and fungi, O Sorb ensures that food items remain fresh and safe for longer. Our range includes iron-based oxygen absorbers suitable for standard applications and organic oxygen absorbers designed to be metal detector-friendly. For products with high water activity, we offer water-dependent oxygen absorbers and specialised frozen food options. Additionally, we cater to unique packaging needs with customisable sizes and printing options.

  • Rapid Oxygen Absorption: Achieves nominal deoxidation within ≤48 hours under standard temperature and humidity conditions.
  • High Oxygen Absorption Capacity: Capable of absorbing ≥60ml of oxygen, ensuring optimal preservation conditions at normal temperature and humidity.
  • Extended Shelf Life: Maintains efficacy for 1 year from the manufacturing date, offering long-term storage solutions.
  • Automated Sachet Sealing: Patterns are auto heat-sealed by automatic packaging machines, ensuring uniform quality and efficiency in production.

Oxygen Capacity (CC) Calculation: Multiply height, width, and length in centimeters (CM) to get the volume, subtract the content weight in grams (g), and divide by the specific gravity (assumed to be 1 for most foods) multiplied by 0.21.

Since the specific gravity of most foods is approximately 1, the oxygen capacity can often be directly correlated with the content’s weight in grams (CC = g). To ensure accuracy and effectiveness, please conduct a practical test prior to application.

The quantity of oxygen absorber packets required depends on the volume of oxygen within the package’s empty space. Given that air comprises approximately 20% oxygen, a void space of 100ml would contain around 20ml of oxygen. For such cases, a U-20 packet is advised.

To verify the effectiveness of the oxygen absorber, check the oxygen indicator within the packaging; it should appear pink. If the indicator turns blue, the absorber should not be used. It’s crucial to use the oxygen absorber immediately after opening its packaging to maintain its efficacy.

Reusing an oxygen absorber packet is strongly discouraged. For enhanced preservation, it is recommended to utilize these absorbers in conjunction with high-barrier food packaging films, ensuring maximum protection.
