The Slip Sheet is an alternative load securement solution to Pallets that are unhygienic, expensive, and challenging to keep, handle and maintain due to the constant repairing and treatment required. Unlike Pallets, Slip Sheets are known to be far cheaper, lighter and hygienic. Besides, it is also wood-free and 100% recyclable.
Slip Sheets are thin sheets used to load and unload goods. Made of paper or corrugated material, they are available in various specifications to meet different needs. Like Pallets, Slip Sheets function by being placed under a load with the help of a special attachment on the forklift’s fork known as “Push-Pull”. These attachments can be attached to any forklift truck easily.
Tracing back to the mid-1940s, the Slip Sheet was first used for canned fruits, afraid that Pallets would take up too much storage space. As time progressed, Slip Sheets’ use became more frequent as people realised that Pallets were getting difficult to maintain and were unsanitary. Furthermore, the cost of the pallets was building up, which made them look for other alternatives. Moving forward to 1991, people discovered different functionalities of the Slip Sheets through Micropolis, a computer company that revolutionised Slip Sheets by using them in airfreight. This inspired many to do the same. Today, Slip Sheets can be used in various industries and applications from air, semis, sea to storge.
The Push-Pull functions by gripping and clamping onto the Slip Sheet firmly by the channelling and pulling the load with the Slip Sheet under them onto stable forks, moving it all to a container. This allows the Pallets to remain in the warehouse, enabling you to reuse them without transporting them back or fear of misplacing them in the process of transportation. Other attachments such as Modern Conveyor Systems and Rollerforks can also be used in place of the Push-Pull.
Compared to Slip Sheets, Pallets offer a high number of benefits that Pallets do not.
Before converting to Slip Sheets, there are a few things that one should take note of to ensure smooth loading and transportation of goods.
